Certified Public Manager ® Program (CPM)

Target Audience

State government middle manager who has successfully completed:

  1. Advanced Skills for Managers (formerly known as Managing Effective Performance - MEP) or Supervision for Managers/Professionals Program (SM/P) or Fundamentals of Management Program with an examination score of 90% or better.   Completed or scheduled to be completed prior to the first CPM Program classroom session.
  2. Co-requisites will be required during/before class as well.
Description The Certified Public Manager ® (CPM) Program is an in-depth, comprehensive, competency-based, nationally certified development program for middle managers from state and local government organizations. 
Topics Include The core CPM Program is an intensive 14-month curriculum, with classes beginning in July.  Approximately twelve classroom days (80 contact hours) are divided across four CPM instructional modules.  Additionally, 120+ hours are required outside the classroom sessions to complete online courses, pre/post class assignments and a CPM project.   Completion of one prerequisite course (Advanced Skills for Managers (formerly known as Managing Effective Performance - MEP) OR Supervision for Managers and Professionals OR Introduction to Supervision) as well as several co-requisite training courses provide the final 100 instructional hours, for a CPM Program total of 300 hours.  All classroom sessions are held at the Learning and Development Center located at 101 West Peace Street in Raleigh, NC.

NOTE:  To enroll in the Certified Public Manager ® Program you must first complete the CPM Program Application Form, obtain all necessary organizational signatures/approvals, and return it to your organization’s Training Coordinator to be forwarded to Kathi Parker, CPM Program Director, at 1333 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC  27699-1333 or fax it to (919) 733-8359.
